Old Fashioned Cocktail

OLD FASHIONED

The Old Fashioned cocktail is actually called "Old fashioned Whiskey Cocktail". This characterful drink, very popular in the 60s, is still fashionable. The Old Fashioned is said to have been invented in 1884 by a retired army officer named James E. Pepper, who also owned a brand of bourbon. He created it with the bartender at the "Pendennis" club in Louisville, Kentucky. During Prohibition in 1928, it took its current form and its recipe became simpler. Today, the Old Fashioned cocktail has even given its name to the whiskey glass: the Old Fashioned glass. Don Draper, hero of the American series Mad Men, is also a fan of Old Fashioned. And it is largely thanks to him that the cocktail returned to the forefront in 2006.
